The award-winning Dos Maderas 5+5 Triple Aged Rum is blended from select rum parcels from the renowned Caribbean rum producing regions of Barbados and Guyana. This rum was actually the very first expression we selected when we launched The Rum Club Australia back in May 2020. It is that delicious that we thought we needed to offer it again to our members!

Dos Maderas 5+5 PX is a delectably sweet, sherry-forward rum from the Caribbean and Spain, known for its dark color and complex notes of raisins, cherry, and dried fruit from its unique multi-stage maturation process. After 5 years of tropical aging in Barbados and Guyana respectively, these rum parcels are shipped to Williams & Humbert in Jerez, Spain, where they are then blended and solera aged for a further 5 years in ex-sherry casks (Oloroso and Pedro Ximénez), giving the finished product a wonderful sweetness and depth.

The “5+5” signifies 5 years in the Caribbean in ex-bourbon casks, followed by another 5 years in Spain in ex-sherry casks, contributing to its unique complexity. Triple aged represents the individual again that occurs in Barbados, Guyana, before making its way to Spain for final aging.

TASTING NOTES

The most prominent characteristic is its high sweetness and rich sherry flavor, due to its final aging in aged Pedro Ximénez (P.X.) sherry casks. Dark amber in color, this intriguing rum offers fig and raisin notes at first, leading to rich, ripe fruit on the palate. This is seasoned by some tropical spice and wrapped in sherry notes, with wisps of smoky oak and a touch of tobacco leaf.
