The award-winning Dos Maderas Atlantic Double Aged Rum is a transatlantic blend that brings together the best of the Caribbean and Spain, Dos Maderas Atlantic Rum 5+1 is crafted with care, character, and complexity.
This unique rum is crafted from a blend of two high-quality rums, each aged for 5 years at their respective origins: one from Barbados and the other from Guyana. These tropical-aged spirits are then transported across the Atlantic ocean to Jerez, Spain, where they undergo a further one-year maturation in barrels that previously held rich Pedro Ximénez sherry, under the guidance of Bodegas Williams & Humbert.
Atlantic begins its journey split between Barbados and Guyana, two distinct Caribbean locations. Barbados is often considered the home of Rum, known for its sandy beaches and laid-back island life. Guyana, nestled around the famous Demerara River, is rich in lush vegetation, waterfalls, and wildlife. We source and blend Rums from these regions, aging them for five years in ex-Bourbon oak casks. These Rums then traverse the ocean to our Sherry bodega, Williams & Humbert, located in the heart of Sherry country: Jerez de la Frontera in southern Spain.
The secret to Dos Maderas Atlanic Sherry cask finishing is their proprietary use of VOS Palo Cortado and VOS PX Sherry ‘botas.’ Palo Cortado contributes flavors of dried apricots, hazelnut, honey, pepper, roast coffee, baking spices, and light toffee. PX brings richer notes of figs, dates, raisins, treacle, chocolate, tobacco, and leather.
The result is a rum that’s smooth and elegant, offering depth with a soft touch of raisins, dried fruit, nutmeg, and a pleasant, rounded sweetness
