Mount Gay Master Blender Collection Andean Oak Cask

Mount Gay Master Blender Collection Andean Oak Cask Rum is the 4th limited edition in the Master Blender Collection series, with an extremely limited allocation made available for The Rum Club Australia members! A limited total of just 2,760 bottles have been made available  world wide.

For this fourth limited edition, Master Distiller Trudiann Branker turned to Andean oak. The trees are native to South America and is a non-traditional wood choice to explore another layer of aromatic complexity. The casks were used for 11 months to finish the ageing of a single batch of rums distilled twice in traditional copper pot still and aged 14 years in ex-Bourbon casks.
The result is a delicate, yet opulent blend with layers of spice, nutmeg, vanilla, ripe pear and toasted coconut on the palate. Dominantly vanilla on the nose, Mount Gay Andean Oak Cask offers a spiciness on the palate that perfectly complements the fruity notes of the aged pot still rum. Andean Oak Cask is bottled at 48% ABV and is non-chill filtered in order to preserve its rich aromas and precious natural colour.

Mount Gay Master Blender Collection Andean Oak Cask Rum and the story of Mount Gay begins in Barbados. This is where the world’s oldest rum company was established, and where, since 1703, the most complex blends have come to life in ancestral ageing cellars. On the original plot at the Northern tip of Barbados in St. Lucy parish sits a small building appearing as a humble stone shed. Beyond the doors resides a deep artesian well. First dug in 1703 by Mount Gay’s founders, this well is the very same one still used today. It is the heart of Mount Gay Distillery. Supplying the core of what makes Mount Gay rum so unique—Barbadian water. Drawn upwards from coral caverns, hundreds of feet below. Finely filtered by the island itself. Delivering time-tested purity and smoothness unlike any other rum produced anywhere else.
