Diplomatico Rum is produced by Destilerias Unidas S.A. (DUSA) in Venezuela, which was founded in 1959 in the foothills of the Andes. Diplomatico is known for one of the biggest selling sipping rums in Australia—the famous ‘green bottle’ that is Diplomatico Reserva Exclusiva.
Every once in a while however, a special single vintage is produced during exceptional years when some rum barrels are identified as having matured in a unique and extraordinary way. Crafted from special reserves that have evolved in an extraordinary way, collating them into vintage batches from one single year of distillation to create the premium Diplomatico Single Vintage release. After aging, Single Vintage rum is placed in sherry barrels to provide the perfect finish.
The Rum Club Australia is the first to secure an Australian allocation of this limited edition beauty for it’s members. Bottled at 43% ABV, DIPLOMATICO Single Vintage 2008 Rum is aged for up to 12 years in ex-bourbon barrels and then finished in fine Oloroso Sherry casks. This limited release is beautifully presented in a premium presentation case.
TASTING NOTES:
Bold and balanced aromas of vanilla, caramel, dried fruit, and hints of sherry for a rich taste profile.
On the palate reveals smoked wood, coffee and chocolate, followed by vanilla notes and ripe fruits. Well-rounded and incredibly flavoursome. Pronounced mellow finish with hints of red fruits, charred oak and a dollop of vanilla ice cream. Superb!
